Air Tightness Testing (Dwellings)
What is an Air Tightness Test?
Greater Manchester EPC can provide air permeability testing for any type of building; from retail units, offices, warehouses, schools, libraries and public buildings. Air Tightness Testing is a requirement for new buildings under Part L of the Building Regulations. Also known as air pressure testing, it calculates the air tightness of a building, known as its ‘air permeability’ or ‘leakage’ rate. Testing is important when designing the fabric of low energy buildings to ensure air does not leak through any gaps, holes of cracks. Excessive air leakage makes the building less energy efficient and more expensive to run.
Air Tightness Testing – Dwellings
Under Part L of the Building Regulations, Air Permeability Testing is a mandatory requirement for newly built dwellings – and a necessity for passing final SAP Calculations.
Air Tightness Testing – Non-Domestic Buildings
Under Part L2A of the Building Regulations Air Permeability Testing is a mandatory requirement for newly built non-dwellings – and a necessity for for producing final SBEM Calculations.
